Sand, rock and sun : earth tones and body heat

While lush jungle may appear more hospitable environments for a solitary nudist, there is little to compare with the starkly raw terrain of a sandy, sun-scorched desert.  Such brings out the best in men  - as you can discern by the natural distension in the lower regions.

---------- The above amateur nudist photos were forwarded in a group email  message from: atitlan on his [ymna] Google group and his [ymna2] Yahoo group ----------

Hi all, Im gonna go Bali with my love (but he not love me, he is straight) on next year.. Any suggestion/recommend?

I got some advice about hotels when I asked a few weeks on this forum?
But none of the hotels I wrote to have responded about a possible reservation for my travel dates (evidently high season). Is that the 'Bali' norm or do I just look like a criminal (lol)?

I was planning on choosing a place in Seminyak? But is that necessary?
How easy is getting around to the different beach communities?
Are taxi cheap and easy to catch? Would renting a bicycle or scooter be a good idea?

Also has anyone stayed at one of the hostels on Bali?

Are there any non-touristy things that you recommend?
I'd like to learn how regular people really live in Bali, and how Hinduism affects their lives? Is there any kind of 'beginner's guide to Hinduism' tour or a temple that explains Hinduism to foreigners?

Thanks ... I realize it's a long shot asking this here... but you never know (smile).

After kind of complaining about the lack of response (earlier today), I suddenly found in my inbox today a reply from my chosen place to stay in Bali: Villa Layang Bulan. http://villalayangbulan.com/
(remove any extra spaces). Actually, someone here on DN recommended it, and so I went that it.

First, it is a clothing optional small boutique hotel (c/o in designated areas), and there are regular (classy) hotels rooms, and also a dormitory section (group living in bunk beds) - which is both cheaper and friendlier when you're travelling alone. They also have a pool and it's not too far from Seminyak bars and fairly close to a nice beach. They offer free rides into town (when available), and a reasonable airport pick-up.

Steven - -> If your colleague isn't gay, then there is not much chance of staying at Villa Layang Bulan. However, there may be other places in the Seminyak area of Bali (rather an upscale area from what I can read/hear) where you may get the ambiance (gayish atmosphere) without the swish or patter of little high heel shoes (sorry - but my prejudices (perhaps from personal experience in other locals and in earlier generations) are now shining through.

Try Spartacvs which is also a clothing optional resort in Saminyak and maybe your str8 friend will surprise you when he takes off his clothes or swims naked in the pool at midnight ;-)

Villa Layang Bayang is great and there are a number of options at different prices... it is small and friendly and they look after you.... I was there in late July early August... plus it keeps you away from Kuta which is busy and no longer appealling!!!!

It's my first trip to Bali. I will go diving one or two days and am booking with Nautilus
http://www.nautilusdivingbali.com/ because I met a gay guy who's a dive instructor there on another site (www.Fridae.asia).

Teebeeu, It was you (if I recall) who recommended Villa Layang. I'm used to staying hostels so the idea of a group dorm room with all gay roommates is a turn-on.

If I like Bali, I'm sure to return again, and next time will go and try out Blue Corner Dive Resort that fit_boy mentioned. Thanks to you all for the advice.

Like any do something in Bali that they would highly recommend? Activities, sights, classes or temple visits, etc.
I'd like to learn about the Hindu religion or at least see it in action.
Is New Year's (first week in January) a special holiday or are there any events in Bali associated with that time?

Palm Springs: A great gay weekend trip or a week's vacation

Original posting: surfohio [msg]

I'll be in Palm Springs this weekend
my friends and I won a house for the weekend - super nice
any recommendations
fun bars? fun restaurants? cool coffee houses?
any cool dives? swank cocktail lounges? & the like
or any good places to hike - especially with some water or place to swim
thanks all

Many of the gay hotels and resorts have some type of day pass - -although the place you're staying may actually be much nicer. It's just that some of them are clothing optional, or have 'special sex zones' (sauna, backroom, and hidden garden or sunning areas where guys cruise for sex and engage in it).

CCBC (Cathedral City Boys Club) has a nice pool and jacuzzi area, and also it's own brand of sex zone, and the infamous walk. There is a day pass rate for pool only guests.
But it depends on who is there and day and time. If there's some gay event going on in PS on the weekend, then it's likely to be busy and have lots of naked men in and out of the pool.

Outside the city, there are some nice hiking areas, but I've only been led there and can't recall how to get there myself.
Use the Net to find more general info on the 29 Palms area or the Joshua Tree National Monument (I think it's about 1 hour's drive or less from PS.) Of course, there's the famous gondola up the mountain just northwest of the city.

If you have more time, I recommend driving over to see the Salton Sea (I'm not sure you can swim in it since it always seems to have dead fish and smells like brine.) But there is a State park on the eastern side for the Sea. If you head back eastward from the Salton Sea (State Hwy 22) you can also visit the Anza-Borrego State Park, the largest state park in CA (and one of the largest in the US (other than national parks). It has some great hiking spot not far from Borrego Springs), and should still be plenty warm to do them naked - if you feel brave enough. (I have done so -- for at least a few miles).

Heading further east toward San Diego is Julian, a little country-style alpine town, complete with antique shops, restaurants and sort of a cowboy (hickville) atmosphere. There is Cuyamaca State Park further inland, heading towards San Deigo.

(The last few recommended spots may be completely out of your travel plan - distance wise). So do your homework ... a bit more.

Enjoy .. Wish I was there ( again)...

OK Guys. Remember this weekend is Pride Weekend and the town will be packed. Make sure you make reservation ASAP.

There will be lines of people waiting to get in the the gay bars.

We have always enjoyed dinner at
Davey's Hideaway Restaurant‎
292 East Palm Canyon Drive
Palm Springs, CA 92264-8824
(760) 320-4480

If you have never been here that the Tram to the top of the mountain, there is hiking up there and a beautiful view of PS. Just dress warm, it is 30 deg cooler up there.

There are 40+ gay resorts around most have day passes and are clothing optional (LOL).

Have fun

The hot/new place in town is LuLu, at South Palm Canyon and Arenas (one block over from PS's little "gay strip"). Good food, cute waiters, fun ambiance. Koffi is always busy, both "old" Koffi (N. Palm Canyon, just north of Alejo; hang out in back by the lawn) or "new" Koffi, on E. Palm Canyon, across from the old Biltmore.
Toucan's is consistently voted one of PS's best dive/tiki bars, although Sunday night is the big event (drag show...it draws hundreds, and a very mixed crowd. Get there at 7:30 for the 8:00 show, or be prepared to wait in a VERY long line). A lot of people also like Trio either for the bar or restaurant, though I think it's overpriced for what you get.
The leather scene, such as it is, is focused at the Barracks in Cathedral City, or to a lesser degree, the Toolshed on Sunny Dunes. Not to be missed: Sunday afternoon at Barracks! Basically any time after about 4.
Check on Adam4Adam (dot com) if you want to know about sex parties. And ask me which ones are more recommended!

Turkish Bathhouses in Places around the World: Budapest

[ Originally posted on one of my personal blogs in 2005 and slightly revised for posting today at the Dudesnude Travel forum]

P.S. It's one of the best reasons to actually keep a blog (or several in my case) because one can quickly share

your former experiences or perspectives by just going back into your public (or private) digital memory bank.

In 2005, I went to my first Turkish baths (hamman) on a trip
to Eastern Europe that summer. I started in Munich, and made my way to Prague (Czech
Republic), Krakow (Poland), Budapest (Hungary), Zagreb & Rijecka ( Croatia), and Vienna (Austria) using a Eurail pass. Of course, I had been to dozens of gay sauna/bathhouses before, and to bathhouses/spa in Austria, Japan, Greece, Franc
was the Kiraly Baths in Budapest but there are in fact several of them.e, Spain, Benelux, and the USA, and other places, and I always make it a point to find out what's available before I reach a destination.
But it was my first time to go to an actual Turkish bath (or hamman), which strictly speaking on simply age-old public baths dating from before the Roman times.
My first visit to an authentic Turkish bath was to Kiraly Bath in Budapest, Hungary.
On a future trip someday, I want to visit Budapest again and go also to the outdoor nudist pool,
Palatinus, located on Margaret Island (or Margit Island, MargitSziget) in the middle of the river
that separates Buda and Pest, two halves of this medieval city. The island is also home to a great park and hosts many events, such as Budapest Gay Pride.

Kiraly Baths was open Tues/Thurs/Sat are men-only days. Women have M/W/F. A bathing suit is required (maybe because this was Hungary or
maybe all Turkish baths require them). It was also a very old place-- dating back hundreds of years to the Ottoman empire. It was cheap enough -- 4-5 dollars to get in - although I did not realize that there was a 3 hour time limit - so I had to pay extra when I left. Things are pretty conservative - since it is Turkish and also a straight men's bath for relaxing and health/therapy.
But don't think for a minute that sex between men and a great opportunity for flashing did not go on.. At least at this time sex wasn't everywhere but it did exist, I know because I engaged in sex with several men there. I was very glad to get the experience too for cultural reasons to help me understand a modern Islamic state that is a democracy (at least mostly so).
I really did not know what it was actually going to be like -- so I didn't get my expectations up too high .. however, overall, I was very pleased with the experience.

-- You stop now and go the my blog on Justusboys.com / members / sunbuns99
(put it all together without spaces, however, there is no search function so you'll need to find it on page 17 of my rather lengthy blog).
After you pay cashier, you drop you ticket off with the guy at the inner door and are directed to the men's dressing room. Inside, there are separate cubicles where you undress and where you leave your belongs.
That was a bit disappointing because I thought that there would be ample opportunity to flash (or to see guys undressing).

An attendant has a separate key to double lock your cubicle (supposedly to prevent theft - but more likely to prevent guys from inviting another into his rather spacious cubicle for sex.) Also they mark the time you enter on the cubicle door, so they know how long you have stayed (and thus can charge you extra -- which I figure goes directly into the attendant's pocket). That was money for hidden extra that was referred to by parade15 above: "the massage men ask for baksheesh." More correctly, everyone is always asking for money that they are SURE you owe them (simply because you (the customers) is too ignorant to know and too bashful or ashamed to deny them it).
When I was initially at the cashier's, I had thought about getting an oil massage, but figured the
baths themselves would be relaxing enough. I hadn't realized that the masseurs were in need of work and had a trick to get customers (the A big guy in late 20s wrapped in a towel was the first to greet me when I climbed the stairs and entered the men's dressing room. He pointed out an empty cubicle and asked me to change and to leave my things. When I came out he was back, and then directed me back into a side room off just off of the rest area -- a large room with 20 or more lounge chairs. The cubicle attendant showed up then and double locked the door.
The masseurs seem to have a ruse to give an unsuspecting customer a massage, but in my case, I was actually vaguely aware of the trick (I has travelled a lot in Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, etc), and had similar experiences in Muslim countries (or should I say Middle Eastern and Central Asian - where the economy of barter/trade is quite an art). So I knew they would probably charge me extra for a massage, but it was just 5-6 dollars extra so really would be worth it. What convinced me was the fact that when we got back to the massage room there was another guy getting one from an older masseur. The guy getting a massage was on his back and had on his swim trunks.

My masseur asked me to lie down on the table and when I started climb up, he said, "Take off you swim pants." When I sort of hesitated and looked over to double check the other guy and his masseur, the big guy reached up and pulled down one said of my trunks and repeated, "Take these off, please." I was immediately convinced that this was an excellent chance to flash and to feel great while it happened.

I stripped and tossed my trunks aside and got up on the table face down and buttocks up. My cock swelled up just a bit once it was free and being observed so I adjusted it backward (so as to be seen). My masseur started immediately rubbing my legs and moved up calves to thighs and then my butt. It was a turn-on to be the only one lying there naked.. my masseur had a towel around his waist and so did the other one; the guy on the next table was an older gentleman, so I figured that my masseur was being selective and wanted a chance to see the goodies on a young more fit guy-- not his typical client on a Tuesday afternoon (or maybe he know intuitively that I would not refuse the chance to be massaged in the nude).

Of course, I got a semi-boner as he worked my legs and came up to my hamstrings and then my buttocks. After about 5 minutes, he asked "do you want some oil" - -I think this was the way to confirm my permission to give a full massage because when I said yes, he added, "it will take about 30 minutes, OK?" So I knew by then it would cost me, but it was worth it (and not much anyway after all ). It felt cool being kind of seduced into getting a massage and having it done in the nude when other guys came in and out of the adjoining room made it a rare treat for it to be totally acceptable to be naked and even erect in front of several men.
After he worked his way up to my head and neck, he asked me to turn over. I knew it was not use concealing my boner - I was not fully hard, but did become so once I was turned over and knew he could see me and so could anybody else who entered the rest-area immediately adjoining (no door just an open archway between the rooms).

That was truly hot and exciting.. but after a few more minutes the massage got me relaxed and my erection cooled down to a less obvious state of excitement. Before long the massage was over and he then said it was finished and then asked for the 3300 forints for the oil massage (same price as was listed at the cashier's when I came in). Margit Island
No complaints from me.. it was a very hot experience -- sort like being force stripped and teased into sexual excitement and then out of it.. a truly Turkish afternoon delight.

I have left out the part about sex in the baths themselves.. but it may have changed since 2005, as one of the guys above has warned. However, I suspect that that kind of clandestine behavior is very hard to clamp down upon -- no pun intended.
